Texas Rosé wines for any season…

The saga continues, living in Texas means dealing with hot summers. Although we have passed through the fall equinox, the Texas heat can still be unforgiving. My thoughts on staying cool and comfortable this fall season continues to include indoor climate control, outdoor time management, and perhaps some refreshing Texas Rosé wine. No matter how high the temperatures soar, or the season, these three Texas Rosé wines can be enjoyed anytime, accompany almost any meal, and maybe dessert too?!?

For example, the Bending Branch Winery Tannat Frizzante, and grilled peaches. Even in late September the grocery store is still stocking fresh peaches, hooray! This is a fun pairing of fresh grilled peaches topped with mascarpone cheese. There is something fun, fruity and fanciful about a fizzy Rosé Frizzante for weekend brunch parties, or just relaxing on the porch patio. The effervescent feel of this wine is pretty cool with tastes of white peach, and strawberry. You could even enjoy this wine with a strawberry shortcake.

The Bending Branch Winery is included within the Texas Fine Wine portfolio, and is also considered the Tannat House of Texas. It is known for its intense wines – from the high acidity in Picpoul Blanc to the bold tannins in Tannat. The winery was co-founded in 2009 by Winemaker Bob Young, M.D., MPH, and his wife Brenda. Bending Branch uses innovative winemaking processes such as Cryo-Maceration and Flash Détente to improve the color, structure and flavor of red wines.

Next, Lewis Wines has a fabulous Texas 2021 High Plains Rosé, 100% Mourvèdre grown in the Texas High Plains at the Phillips' Vineyard. The fruit was hand-harvested, whole cluster pressed, and fermented in stainless steel until dry. This rosé wine is bone-dry with fresh red fruits, soft texture and refreshing minerality.

The bottle below is the 2021 vintage, but I’m sure the 2022 is just as wonderful. The acidity level and minerality was so good on this wine, I paired with a Chicken Alfredo linguine dish.

Another Texas Rosé to consider is from William Chris Vineyards . This Texas Rosé is also made from grapes exclusively sourced from the Texas High Plains. I paired this savory Texas Rosé with chicken salad stuffed in a fresh tomato and veggies, and this is always a winner winner chicken lunch or dinner combo.

On a special note, William Chris was recently announced on the World’s Best Vineyards list, not just once, but two years in a row for 2022 and 2023. Only seven U.S. vineyards are on the list, and William Chris is the first Texas winery to make the list ranking 56 out of 100. A big win for Texas wine, Texas grape growers and Texas winemakers. Many congratulations!
