My Vino Choices for Roasted Chicken

A roasted chicken is perhaps everyone's favorite Sunday, and/or holiday dinner.

If you're like me, I happen to love both red and white wine with herb roasted chicken. Hence, my vino choices for roasted chicken is a nice Pinot Noir and a lovely Chardonnay to compliment the overall meal experience. Acidity is the key, that's why certain wines like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay seem to taste better with poultry dishes especially around the holidays. These two wines enhance all the flavorful elements, as well as the medley of savory herbs in a roasted chicken dinner, veggies included.

On Palm Sunday, I prepared a classic herb roasted chicken dinner along with parsnips, carrots, beets, and Brussels sprouts. My vino choices, two exquisite wines; First, the Gary Farrell 2019 Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley Selection. A friend gifted me the Pinot Noir on Valentines Day. The wonderful thing is you can easily find Gary Farrell Pinot Noir at most local wine shops, and grocery store retailers. Next, Chardonnay, my favorite subject! The Gary Farrell 2018 Olivet Lane Vineyard Chardonnay. A true favorite because I remember just how much I loved tasting the 2017 Olivet Lane Vineyard Chardonnay from the previous year.

Last year in February 2021, I participated in a virtual media event hosted by Gary Farrell's winemaker Theresa Heredia. Along with wine aficionados, enthusiasts, and sommeliers from across the U.S. we tasted and learned about a wide array of Gary Farrell Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay; wines produced specifically with fruit sourced from vineyards located in the Russian River Valley, and Sonoma County. It was such a memorable online wine tasting experience I noted to keep a look-out for the next online wine event.

This month, I secured my spot to join the April 22, 2022 live broadcast and virtual happy hour hosted again by Theresa Heredia featuring the 2018 Olivet Lane Vineyard Chardonnay. I can't wait.

You too can join the virtual happy hour event featuring Theresa's discussion on the 2018 Olivet Lane Vineyard Chardonnay and the 2018 Olivet Lane Inspiration Chardonnay. It's a great chance to compare these two single-vineyard wines from the same vintage. Here's the registration link.

Below are the two Gary Farrell Chardonnay wines to be featured in the virtual happy hour scheduled on April 22, 2022:

·   2018 Olivet Lane Inspiration

·   2018 Olivet Lane Vineyard
