Earlier this year, in May, Rhône Valley Wines (@RhoneWine, @RhoneValleyWines) took center stage at the The Majestic Metro, a charming theater in Houston, as they hosted their annual tasting called “A Land of Wine and Festivals” (#GetRhone).
What a welcoming event, with festivities that included music, food and wine!
Above is my personal tasting tour guide, Stephanie Teuwen. She’s an expert on Rhône Valley Wines and originally from Luberon, an appellation in the south of France. Stephanie took me through a virtual tasting tour on the “Crus” (wines) of Southern and Northern Rhône, along with other Rhône appellations.
Out of all the wonderful wines we tasted together, I picked one for this post: Côtes Du Rhône Villages Séguret, Loubie 2015 Rose. I found this wine most affordable at Specs (@specs1962) for about $18.00.
Personally, on the nose and palate were aromas of raspberries, strawberries, and citrus flowers. Thinking about this particular wine, I took Stephanie’s advice and married it with spicy food — my festive Sriracha hot chili chicken tacos! I enjoyed those tacos while browsing through the encyclopedia of Rhône Valley Wines. I’m so looking forward to seeing you again next year, Stephanie!!
